This Belgian Session IPA has a blend of tropical citrus and resinous pine notes that blends with the Belgian fruit esters to give you a soft drinkable session IPA with an intense aroma.
[Food Pairing]
White fish in "saikyo" miso, with citrus salad. Sliced spiced onions in olive oil, seared chicken. Garlic and herb infused cream cheese with crackers.
[Naming]
Since this beer is both infinitely drinkable and low in alcohol, we decided to play on the common phrase regarding work conditions 'Shuukyuu Futsuka', literally translated as "two days break per week". Since this beer won't be too hard on the liver, we figured it's ok to relax with a few of these more often and decided to call it 'Shuukyuu Muika' or "6 Day Weekend”. This is a lifestyle that few can enjoy, but perhaps this beer can make one get a little sense of the feeling!
[Brewer's Voice]
6 Day Weekend was originally inspired by the high flavour, low alcohol beers we discovered when visiting Belgium. We took this, and wondered how this could go if we took it in a more modern direction. Comprised of pilsner and wheat malt, this beer is light in body and colour, but just has enough to it to avoid being thin. What makes Belgian beers unique is the layers of complexity that the esters and phenols provide, and we lean on the fruitier side of this, while also taking advantage of our yeast’s dry finish. The hops are a blend of New Zealand Waimea, and American Simcoe and Citra, offering a strong citrus and berry character, with just a touch of pine character along with it.

What we have in the end is something slightly akin to a Belgian single, but decidedly full of modern hop character, making it both incredibly crushable and a beer where you’ll soon want to reach for your second!
