Wheat and oats form a soft body for the plentiful fruity hops to take over the palate in this modern Belgian IPA.
[Character]A straw-coloured IPA with aromas of fruity Belgian yeast esters, backed up with the wonderful hop fruitiness. A mild haze from the wheat and oats, beer offers a soft mouthfeel rounded out by a blend of Mosaic and Strata, contributing overripened berry, pineapple, and melon flavours.[Food Pairing]Smoked chicken breast and fig carpaccio, "kakiage" mixed fry with "hamo" eel and seri, Boursin and Italian parsely infused omelette[Naming]Marina has a lot in common with her sister Mariko, namely Belgian yeast and American hops. Personality wise, though, Marina has a flair for the dynamic and a tendency to go a bit over the top. With a hugely heavy hop bill, she lives up to her namesake![Brewer's Voice]We revisited the Mari family of beers and looked at what made them special, and looking at them we wanted to tie flavor profiles to these beers and what they were known for more than specific ingredients. We have been doing a lot of work over the last couple years with building relationships with hop growers and suppliers, trying to get the best quality hops available to us. This change gives us the flexibility to use new ingredients or more impactful hops to portray these beers in their best light. Marina was best known for her soft and tropical fruity character. A moderate amount of wheat with some oats makes up about 30% of the malt bill alongside the North Star Pilsner and a little Dextrin malt, giving the beer a pale and mildly hazy appearance and some mouthfeel. The hop amounts increased significantly this year, giving it a more impactful hop presence while keeping its drinkability. Keeping with Marina’s tropical fruit character, we went with a blend of Strata and Mosaic. This combination gives a medley of fruit flavours and aromas, with berry, apricot, pineapple and a touch of wildflower shining through the strongest. This pairs well with the naturally tropical fruit esters of our Belgian house yeast. A beer crafted for its season, this beer is fruity, light, and refreshing even on the hottest of Kyoto summer days.StyleBelgian IPASeriesMari FamilyABV6.5%IBU28Gas Volume2.65CategoryBeerJAN4589718742717Shipping Start2025/08/14Regarding shipping datesPlease note that, when multiple items are ordered together, they will be shipped out after the shipping start date of the latest product in the order.Best Before2026/04/11
