We wanted something more smoothie-like in its mouthfeel, and so went a bit heavier on our malt base, mixing it with wheat for more creaminess, and made sure the beer had more unfermentable sugars that would stay in the beer rather than drying out. We used some Meridian hops for berry and flower aromas before adding the big flavours from the huge berry blend that we added. A mix of blueberries, blackberries, and marionberries were first added, with then a mixed blend including sour cherries, strawberries, blackcurrants and raspberries contributed more wonderful aromas. With the berry mix being very sharp to begin with, we let all the sourness come from them, and the juicy berry character along with the deep purple colour make this a truly appealing refreshing break from the summer heat.
