A heavy-hitting IPA with plenty of impact from the variety of hops, with added complexity from our house yeast.
[Character]Lots of flavor from high ABV and yeast. Finish is dry but feels full body from alcohol. Hops have heavy mature fruit character with nuances of pine and herb.[Food Pairing]Lebanese salad, white fish in breadcrumbs, Fried chicken in herbal tartare sauce[Naming]Kyujiro does things his way, deliberately trying to be different to those who surround him. His strong personality can be a little much to some on first impressions, but his colour, character, and genuineness tend to win those who give him a chance over.[Brewer's Voice]The Mari Family series is our way to explore the possibilities inherent in IPAs made with Belgian yeast. IPAs made with other yeast strains primarily rely on the hops to give the beer its character. Belgian yeast allows us to add additional layers of flavor as well as adjust the finish of the beer, making it more or less dry, which allows for more complexity.
Most beers in this series are meant to be easy drinking and refreshing. We felt it was about time to go in a different direction and make something bold, bitter, and powerful. Meet Kyujiro!
The base is very similar to a Belgian Tripel, with dryness from an addition of sugar and layers of fruit and spice from our house Belgian yeast. To this we added a blend of hops, some with powerful resiny character and some with stone fruit and tropical notes. The result is an intriguing mix of ripe fruit, delicate tropical citrus, and a punch of resin. And of course intense bitterness!StyleBelgian Double IPASeriesMari FamilyABV8.0%IBU74Gas Volume2.5MaltPilsnerHopPolaris, Columbus, Ekuanot, Talus, Riwaka, StrataYeastBelgian AleOthersWhite SugarCategoryBeerJAN4589718741352Best Before2024/01/24
