Our New Year-Round Beer - 週休6日 6days weekend
Adding a year-round product to the selection is an uncommon occurance. While one of the pleasures of craft beer is the variety, and the experimentation, something equally important is a company's flagship beers, and the products synonimous with the brand that, if executed well, are fit for repeat drinkability.
Special releases allow for extreme flavours, big impact, and it doesn't matter if you can't drink 3-4 pints in a row - drinkability in large volume is not necessarily what the beer was trying to do. A year-round beer, on the other hand, is a different story. We decided, pretty much from Day 1, that we wanted a Saison, a Belgian IPA, and a Belgian Stout, as year-round beers.
While we updated our 3 year-round beers at the start of 2021, we have stuck by these products and kept our year-round lineup stable, still proudly pushing them forward as the beers we go back to.
That doesn't make them the only KBC beers that we want to keep drinking, though.
6 Day Weekend made its debut as a special release at the end of 2016. We loved it in its first incarnation and in its tweaked versions since then, right through to its current recipe that we settled on. We have released it a few times a year, more than any other limited release, as much because we love drinking it as anything. Full of juicy hop aroma, with a light body but just enough malt character, and a dry finish allowing just for the hop character to linger on, this is a beer that we can genuinely drink all day.
When we used to sell most of our beer in keg, it was hard to maintain 4 year-round products, and so have always stuck with 3. With cans shifting now, and 6 Day Weekend proving an even bigger hit in can form than in keg form, we felt that now was the time to allow customers (and ourselves!) the chance to really treat every day as a holiday (or at least 6 days out of the week) and make this beer year-round. Due to production challenges we cannot guarantee that we will always have stock in keg form, but our goal is to keep it on the shelves and available through our online store as much as possible.
Cheers to session ales, and that weekend feeling!
