A red IPA to welcome the year of the dragon, with a richness balanced with sharp hop aroma
[Character]Light caramel and toast malt nuances are balanced with sharp citrus aroma with a decent bitterness and the right amount of body[Food Pairing]Spiced gobo (burdock root) fries, fish and chips with herbed taretare sauce, peppered sausage with citrus jam.[Naming]5 cycles of the zodiac are considered to be significant in Japanese and East Asian culture, with a cyclical implication. 60 years ago was considered a seminal year in Japan, with the Tokyo Olympics, and the advent of the bullet train. This was the time that Japan emerged from its long period of post-war recovery and development to become a global economic powerhouse, a rising dragon, one might say. [Brewer's Voice]With next year being the year of the dragon, we felt a red IPA with just enough bite sounded like a fitting limited release to ring it in. Whilst red in hue, we avoided using a malt bill that would be too heavy, but would stand up to the sharp citrus and tropical character from the hops, as well as just enough bitterness to make it both satisfying and moreish.StyleRed IPASeriesUnknownABV6.5%IBU54Gas Volume2.4MaltPilsner, RED X, Red Rye Crystal, Crystal MediumHopColumbus, Idaho7, Mosaic, Talus, Chinook, Citra, Riwaka, CascadeYeastAmerican AleCategoryBeerJAN4589718741475Best Before2024/03/05
