The style that broke all the rules, and created what many see as the "current" IPA

[Character]
Lucious mouthfeel and intense fruit and tropical aroma in our first Hazy IPA.
[Naming]
For many years, the west coast IPA set the rules for the IPA style. It should be bitter, it should be clean and clear. Along came a revolutionary new wave, focusing on making juicy IPAs with low bitterness, and a thick mouthfeel from a body that was anything but clear.
[Brewer's Voice]
This series was designed to explore how IPAs have changed over time and how customer and brewer tastes drive different fads. So far we have explored the roots of IPA in England, followed by the birth of modern IPAs in America and the subsequent increase in hop flavor, bitterness, and aroma. Now we turn our attention to what has been the most dramatic and seemingly longest lasting change: haze.

For a long time, haze was seen as a negative in beer, including IPAs, and would often result in customer complaints or lower rankings by judges. That all began to change when on the East Coast of the USA timing of hop additions and the amount used were creating beers with some of the most intense hop aromatics ever. The approachability of these beers made them a customer favorite, and now cloudy beer is what many people think of when they think of the style.

This is actually the first hazy IPA we have ever made and we kept the flavors and ABV quite orthodox for the style. Our main goal was to retain haze beyond packaging, which sounds obvious but actually takes quite a bit of understanding and attention to detail. Definitely drink this beer fresh and toast the most recent IPA revolution!
