新天地 (New Frontier)

New Frontier is an ever-evolving exploration of lager beers. This release is a representation of the popular Italian Style Pilsner, made famous by Tipopils, brewed by Birrifico Italiano in Italy. This style is typified by dry hopping with classic German hops, which, unlike India Pale Lager or other beers using fruity and citrusy hops, provide notes of fresh herbs that further enhance the dry finish and high drinkability of a Pilsner.

For our version we chose Spalter hops, providing a slight lemon and grass character that highlights the esters of the lager yeast. A blend of Belgian and German malt provides a nice background note of cracker-like sweetness that goes really nicely with the hop and yeast character. The result is a highly drinkable lager with a unique hint of herbs and citrus setting it apart from a typical lager or a more ostentatious IPL. We are excited to bring this new evolution in lager brewing here at KBC!

Naming: Our original release of New Frontier was a journey into new territory: lager. From there we now look to branch out into yet more untravelled paths, changing hops, malt, and yeast as we continue the journey to find the perfect lager.
