Created using a blend of beer and wine yeast, this is a fruitful reinterpretation of an IPA inspired by France.

[Character]
With nuances of berries and dark fruit from the French hops, malt character and wine yeast, this beer is a reimagining of the IPA inspired by one of the world's great wine cultures.
[Food Pairing]
Root vegetables, sweet and sour chicken, salted bonito
[Naming]
The world of craft beer is dominated by American hops, especially in the modern IPA. Hops are produced all over the world, however, and vary hugely in character. This series is a celebration of characteristics of 6 countries, and a reimagining of the IPA through the lens of their respective beer cultures.
[Brewer's Voice]
This is likely the most challenging brew in the Six Journeys series for several reasons. First is that modern French hops that lend themselves to use in styles like IPA are relatively new and yet to be established. Second is that France is so much a wine country that imagining what they would have made if IPA had been created there is very difficult! What we decided to do was combine the two, looking to marry the berry-like characteristics of French hops with dark fruit flavors from crystal malts. Tying this together is the final challenge: blending wine and beer yeast. The final product is of course an IPA, but with nuances that elicit feelings of red wine.
