This experimental IPA was created to show the difference between two very popular IPA terms in liquid form: single vs. double dry hop. We took the same beer, split it between two tanks, and dry hopped them. One tank got a single dry hop at our normal dry hop rate (about 4g/L), the other a second dry hop (so a total of 8g/L). Everything else stays the same, including the ratio and variety of hops being used.

The malt recipe is a simple one and its 6.5% ABV helps to emphasize the hop flavor and bitterness characteristic of IPAs. Hop varieties include Cascade, Simcoe, Citra, and Sabro, with the last two being the combination used in a 50/50 blend for both dry hops. The result is an easy drinking, well balanced tropical IPA in Ichi, and a harder hitting, impactful IPA in Ni with more flavor and aroma but also more hop “bite.” Bringing this concept to fruition was a labor of love, so we hope you are excited to try these two beers side by side to experience the difference of single vs. double dry hop!

Naming: One dry hop or two, that is the only difference in this unique experimental IPA. Try both to see what the difference between one and two is!
